Where are people standing their ground?
In Abergyfenni, locals are protesting against council plans to bring a new and completely unnecessary ASDA to the town. If you live in or near Abergyfenni, sign up for our weekly e-mail right now, and get in touch to let us know if you want to help. Latest news - the application has been turned down in an encouraging victory for local campaigners, although there are fears that an altered application may soon be on the cards.
In Pwllheli, permission has been granted for a new ASDA - Cymuned is working to develop a local business network to help minimise the loss of quality jobs. If you live in or near Pwllheli and would like to help with the business network, e-mail us...:-)
In Aberteifi, the Town Council have voted unanimously (with one abstention) against a giant development on the Bathhouse site, which the County Council have then incredibly over-turned - what price local democracy? The Assembly have made noises and then weakly failed to call it in, and some people are now suggesting that the Town Council should consider the option of a judicial review.

The damage HAS to be stopped
Cymuned is a housing and communities pressure group which also supports the Welsh language.
We are calling on your Council to refuse planning permission to grocery and retail developments that are not owned by someone who lives in your county.
It's time to ditch the idea that 'pile them high and sell them cheap' is more important than decent quality jobs for local people.
It's time to call a halt to putting the superstore's hunger for money ahead of the needs of local people.
It's time to stop our towns and villages being bled dry.
No More Chain Stores!
